Chiang Kai Shek College and St. Stephen’s High School defeated the sister teams of Philippine Cultural College Manila and Caloocan, respectively, to arrange yet another showdown in the 7th Baden Powell Cup Basketball Tournament best-of-three finals which will start on February 13, 1:30PM at the CKSC Narra Campus Benjamin Chua Gymnasium.

Chiang Kai Shek College walloped Philippine Cultural College – Manila, 81-50, and remained unbeaten in the tournament. The Blazing Dragons took the led from the start of the tournament, increasing their lead every quarter en route to an easy victory. With the win, Chiang Kai Shek College will have its seventh straight finals stint and another championship will bring its already dominant reign in the annual tournament to five straight years. This year’s Blazing Dragons had numerous sponsors supporting its bid, including Steelhaus Manufacturing, DG Trio, Lights and Lamps, Eng Bee Tin, New Empire Printing, and New Maxima Tire Supply.

For the fourth straight year, St. Stephen’s High School will bid to grab the title from the CKSC Dragons. The Stephenians squeaked past Philippine Cultural College – Caloocan in the other semifinals match, 74-72, last February 6. Despite leading by 9 during half-time and as much as 14 at the end of the third salvo, The PCC Caloocan Seagulls rallied in the last quarter and slowly got back into the game, and even led by 3 points going to the last two minutes of the game. But playing on their home court, the Stephenians got the breaks of the game going on their side in the last minute of the game to escape with the win.

With CKSC meeting perennial rival SSHS in the championship series, the finals is sure to be hot and exciting, generating a lot of crowd participation and audience support. After all, that has become the tradition in the Baden Powell Cup Basketball Tournament.
