Three-time defending champion Xavier School swept the first round of the double round-robin elimination phase of the Juniors Division competitions in the 41st Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association high school tournament with a masterful clinical 133-61 shellacking of winless Uno High School.

The Golden Stallions, who picked up their 25th consecutive victory over four seasons (Game 3 2008 Finals, 9-0 in 2009, 9-0 in 2010 and 6-0 in 2010-11), got five players in double-digit scoring.

Jeron Teng put together the first triple-double performance in the Tiong Lian games this season with 29 points, 10 rebounds and 11 assists. The recipient of the Freego Player of the Game award, the 6-1 Teng also had five steals.

Other Xaverians scoring in twin digits are Jarrell Lim, 18 points (on 8-for-8 from the field, including 2-for-2 from beyond the three-point line); Kyles Lao, 17; Paolo Cabero, 12; and Donal Ong, 11.

Uno, which dropped all six assignments in the first round, was led by Justin Co, who tallied 16 points, and Philip Licaros, who added a dozen markers.

Quarter Scores (XS-UHS): 35-14, 74-28, 105-43, 133-61.

Meanwhile, host Chiang Kai Shek College routed St. Jude Catholic School, 80-57, to create a triple tie for second place with Hope Christian and SJCS at 4-2.

Applying the quotient system to break the deadlock following the completion of the first round, CKSC ranked second with a plus 22 (beating SJCS by 23 and losing to Hope Christian HS by one), Hope Christian HS placed third with a minus two (losing to SJCS by three and beating CKSC by one) and St. Jude Catholic School finished fourth with minus 20 (beating Hope Christian HS by three and losing to CKSC by 23).

CKSC took an eight-point lead, 17-9, late in the first quarter and never looked back thereafter.

Up 28-20, the Blue Dragons scored 10 unanswered points ? six by Greg Gimado and four by Paul Aduana ? as their advantage ballooned to 38-20.

Coach Joel Yap?s boys were never really threatened after establishing firm control a few minutes before halftime. They were up by at least nine points throughout the second half and by at least 14 in the entire fourth quarter.

Gimado came up with a career-high 19 points (11 of them in the breakaway second quarter) and seven rebounds to win the Freego Player of the Game award.

Aduana contributed 14 points and 13 boards and Arvin Faustino added 10 markers for the winners.

St. Jude Catholic School, which dropped its final two games in the first round, was powered by Jason Ligad?s 18 points. Kurt Uy was the only other Judenite in double figures with 10.

Quarter Scores (HCHS-CKSC): 21-16, 43-29, 57-45, 80-57.
