CKSC Downs UNO, Xavier Whips Hope

Chiang Kai Shek College improved its record to 6-3 in the Juniors Division of the 41st Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball Association high school tournament with an 86-47 shellacking of winless Uno High School.
In a show of balanced offense, four players scored in double digits for the Blue Dragons ? John Baytan, 14 points; Arvin Faustino, 12; Greg Gimado, 11; and Cyril Mopas, 11. Paul Aduana made just six points.
Baytan also grabbed a team-best 13 rebounds to share Freego Player of the Game honors with Gimado.
Justin Co had nine points and 13 boards for Uno, which has dropped all its eight games so far.
Quarter Scores (CKSC-UHS): 19-14, 43-20, 64-36, 86-47.
In the main game, Xavier School raised its record to 8-0 with a close 72-63 victory over Hope Christian High School.
While the Golden Stallions never trailed throughout the game, Hope Christian went on an 11-0 run to deadlock the count at 43-all for the first and only time on a three-pointer by Raymond Tan late in the third quarter.
Xavier School, which owns a 27-game winning streak over four seasons (since Game Three of the 2008 Finals), however, came right back with seven consecutive points to enjoy a 50-43 edge going into the fourth quarter.
Stallions star Jeron Teng earned Freego Player of the Game honors with 40 points (on 15-for-29 field-goal shooting), 17 rebounds and four steals.
Sweet-shooting Donal Ong totalled 12 markers, including a pair of threes, and Kyles Lao added 10 points for the winners.
King Benemerito collected 24 points and 11 boards and Jessiery Pedrosa had 13 points and 16 rebounds for Hope Christian. Errol Villar hauled down 13 rebounds but was limited to six points on 3-for-12 floor shooting.
