Freego Player of the Game: Jeron Teng
Burlington 3-Point Shootout Award: Donal Ong

Notes: Xavier School scored the game’s first five points, with Donal Ong opening with a three. There were six deadlocks – 10-all, 12-all, 14-all, 16-all, 18-all and 20-all – bridging the first and second quarters. Down 20-18 after the first quarter, Jeron Teng knocked in a pair of baskets and Kyles Lao made a triple as Xavier School took a 25-20 lead that it never surrendered from thereon. Xavier School outscored Hope Christian, 28-7, in the second quarter, to enjoy a 46-27 edge at halftime. Xavier School still owned a 50-30 lead midway through the third period when Hope Christian strung together a 15-5 run to slice its deficit to 55-45 (on an Elijah Tancauco jumper) entering the payoff fourth period. Xavier School was still ahead, 60-48, on a Teng basket at the 8:08 mark when Hope Christian closed the gap to 60-54, behind two points each by the Three Kings, Jessiery Pedrosa, King Benemerito and Errol Villar. Xavier School, however, stayed in control on Teng’s 10 points in the final seven minutes, including a 6-of-6 effort from the free-throw line.

Guard Janrey Garrido hit a jumper with 3:38 left as Hope Christian narrowed the gap to 64-58. It was still a six-point difference (66-60 on a Pedrosa basket) when Teng bulldozed his way for another field goal, 68-60, time down to 2:35. Hope Christian was down by seven points, 70-63, when Donal Ong connected a dagger three with just one second left on XS’ shot clock and off a Hope Christian timeout as Xavier School took a 73-63 lead with 5).9 second remaining.

Jeron Teng, a high school junior, emerged as the Tiong Lian Juniors Division Most Valuable Player for the second consecutive year.
