2008 FUTURES BASKETBALL LEAGUE
FORMAT & SCHEDULE (as of September 9)
Mini Division
There are 8 total teams. Each
team will play 5 games for the preliminary round. There
is only 1 group.
In case of any ties, the Quotient System for the entire
group shall be taken into consideration.
The top 4 teams at the end of the preliminary round advance
to the semifinals.
The other teams are automatically eliminated.
Rank # 1 vs Rank # 4 and Rank # 2 vs Rank # 3. Both are
Knockout games.
Winners advance to the Single-game Finals.
Midgets Division
There are 18 total teams. The
teams are divided into Group A and Group B. There are 9
teams in Group A and 9 teams in Group B.
Each team will play 6 games during the preliminary round.
They will randomly play teams from their own group.
At the end of the Preliminary round, the top 2 teams per
group advance to the crossover semifinals.
In case of any ties, the Quotient System for the entire
group shall be taken into consideration.
The team with the higher/highest Quotient shall advance.
The other teams are automatically eliminated.
For the semis: 1A vs 2B and 1B vs 2A. Both are Knockout
Games.
Winners advance to the single game finals.
Girls Division
There are 9 total teams for
the girls division. There is only 1 group.
Each team will randomly play 6 teams for the preliminary
round.
The top 4 will advance to the semifinals.
In cases of ties, the Quotient System for the entire group
shall be taken into consideration.
The team with the higher/highest Quotient shall advance.
The other teams are automatically eliminated.
Rank # 1 vs Rank # 4 and Rank # 2 vs Rank # 3. Both knockout
games.
Winners advance to the single game finals.
Boys Juniors Division
There are 22 total teams. The
teams are divided into 4 groups.
After the single round robin within each group, the top
2 teams of each group advance to the quarterfinals.
In case of a 2-way tie, Winner Over the Other. In case of
a 3-day tie, Quotient System amongst the concerned teams
only.
Quarterfinal Match-ups: 1A vs 2B, 1B vs 2A, 1C vs 2D, 1D
vs 2C. Knockout Games.
Semifinal Match-ups: Semis # 1: [Winner (1A-2B) vs Winner
(1B-2A)]. Semis # 2: [Winner (1C-2D) vs Winner (1D vs 2C)]
Winners advance to the single game finals.

FBL ATTRACTS 56 SCHOOL TEAMS
FOR 2008 SEASON
A total of 56 teams coming from
schools all over Metro Manila has confirmed participation
in the 2008 Futures Basketball League ( FBL ) set to start
on Sunday, September 14 at the Don Bosco Technical Insitute
in Makati with BAP-SBP Executive Director and Liga Filipina
Commissioner Noli Eala as guest at the opening ceremonies.
All of the champion teams last
year in the different categories are defending their titles
this year, led by UST in the boys' junior division, Adamson
in the girls' junior division, San BedaCollege -Alabang
in the midgets group and Ateneo de Manila in the mini- division
with both San Beda and Ateneo gunning for their 4th straight
championships in as many seasons.
The FBL, which started with
only 15 members schools, has been steadily growing every
year and has already expanded nation-wide with tournaments
held in Cebu and Davao with Cagayan de Oro and Bacolod as
new sites, according to FBL project director Nino Sinco
