NOTES: First-quarter score was 12-12. After Khristian Furigay gave Grace a 19-18 lead, St. Stephen’s scored six straight points on a basket by Kent Lao and back-to-back baskets by Martin Schrijvers to regain the upperhand, 24-10. The Stephenians never trailed thereafter and led by as much as 18 points thrice (48-30, 50-32 and 54-36) in the third quarter, which ended 54-41. However, Grace went on a 15-0 run bridging the third and fourth quarters to come within three points, 54-51. NOTES: Harold Ng hit a three and Jeron Teng completed an undergoal stab and Xavier was off and running, 5-0. End of first quarter was 37-12, in favor of Xavier. Teng scored 21 and Jose Anton “Jett” Manuel had 16 (on 7-for-7 FGA, including 2-for-2 from three-point area) in 14 and 11 minutes, respectively, as Xavier stormed to a 63-30 lead at halftime. Golden Stallions coach Jonathan “Budds” Reyes utilized mostly his second- and third-stringers in the third quarter, which ended at 95-59. Fourteen of the 15 players fielded in by Reyes scored at least a point. The win by Xavier was its 15th straight over three seasons (2008 Finals Game Three, 9-0 in 2009 and 5-0 in 2010) in Tiong Lian Juniors competitions. Freego Player of the Game – Jeron Teng, Xavier School. Teng has won the Player of the Game award five times.

Xavier (5-0) and St. Jude Catholic School (4-0) clash for the leadership on Wednesday, January 27, at the CKSC gym in Tondo. Both schools have earned automatic semifinal tickets (armed with twice-to-beat advantage) as the top two seeds. Game’s outcome will determine the rankings. Winner is No. 1 seed and loser is No. 2 seed.
