Move over, Big Brother.

The Xavier School Aspirants, who are seeking a record-extending eighth consecutive title, duplicated the feat of their Juniors counterparts in the 40th Metro Manila Tiong Lian Basketball tournament by completing their own single round-robin elimination schedule with a lily-white 6-0 record.

In the semifinals, the top-ranked Golden Stallions are facing No. 4 seed St. Jude Catholic School (3-3) and No. 2 seed Chiang Kai Shek College (5-1) are matched up against No. 3 seed St. Stephen’s High School (4-2).

Both Xavier School and Chiang Kai Shek College own a twice-to-beat advantage over their respective opponents.

During the elimination round, Xavier School blasted St. Jude Catholic School, 93-57, while CKSC whipped St. Stephen’s HS, 75-57.

The semifinal winners will clash in a best-of-three championship series on Saturday, Feb. 13 (10:00 a.m. in the CKSC gym); Monday, Feb. 15 (2 p.m. in Xavier School); and, if Game Three is necessary, on Wednesday, Feb. 17 (5:30 p.m. in the CKSC gym).

Jarrell Lim, the son of Xavier alumnus Dr. John Lim, is the XS Aspirants’ No. 1 scorer with an 18.2-point clip (16-17-7-21-28-20). Vincent Soliven is next with an average of 11.5 points per game.
